Marie Dahlstrom Delivers A Touching Ode To Her Newborn Son In ‘He Is’

Marie Dahlstrom is a Danish artist and producer who is a breath of fresh air with her smooth voice and beautiful artistry, which encapsulates elements of R&B, soul, and pop.

With the announcement of her upcoming EP, which she titles – ‘Safe Place’, she has presented the very first single from the project: a touching ode to her newborn son – ‘He Is.’ Marie wrote the song amongst the global pandemic, and before her son was born and listening to the music, you can hear the love and emotion in the very words she sang.

Short, sweet, loaded with joy and adoration for her child, it’s apparent that this is a track that meant a lot to her. Speaking about it, Marie said the following:

I wanted to make a song for my son that he can always listen back to, with the feel of a lullaby or a hymn. I wrote ‘He Is’ when I was around 30 weeks pregnant on the piano in my parent’s house. Now that he’s been born the song has become even more meaningful to me.

‘He Is’ is a soft ballad that pulls on your heartstrings, and the instrumentation (done by friend and collaborator Sipprell) throughout takes the lyrics to another level. The lyrics tell the whole story:

He might not be much like me at all / He might be a mirror to my soul  / Whoever he’ll become I’ll give him my all

If you want to hear a song loaded with substance, grounded in unconditional love and passion – this is a song that you must listen to. Overall ‘He Is’ is a great introduction to Marie Dahlstrom and those looking for something different in terms of sounds then Marie fits the bill as her unique brand of alt-R&B makes her a fascinating prospect to keep your eye on in the near and far future.

You can listen to ‘He Is’ below, and you can also stream it here.

Marie’s new EP ‘Safe Place’ will arrive at the end of October, ahead of a headline show at London’s Camden Assembly on November 19th.
