BLACKPINK’s Lisa Makes Solo Debut With ‘LALISA’

BLACKPINK’s Lisa has released her solo single ‘LALISA’

On September 10th, Lisa dropped the music video for ‘LALISA’, and it has fans singing her name. No, seriously.

Starting from the name of the track, which is her first name, right down to the musical elements of the composition, the song is all Lisa.

Lisa is the third member of BLACKPINK to release a solo single. Jennie released her solo single, ‘Solo’ in 2018. Rosé released her solo single, ‘On the Ground’ in March 2021, which was on the Billboard Global 200 and No.1 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. charts. According to their label, YG Entertainment, Jisoo will be the next and final member to release her solo album.

Compared to Jennie and Rosé’s solo tracks, Lisa’s is much more in your face with its persistent bass and EDM breaks. However, it is different from the average Hip-Hop/EDM track because of the song’s Thai elements.

On September 10, Lisa held a press conference where she talked more in-depth about the single’s production. She states it was very important for her first solo song to have elements of her Thai heritage, both in song and in the music video.

Not only did Lisa show her fans a more intimate side of her by sharing her culture, but she also bared her forehead during the album’s photoshoot. Over the years, Lisa’s bangs have become a mainstay in her image. Her baring her forehead is something of a ‘wow’ moment for fans, and it is something to look for in the album’s jacket.

The album also features the B-side, ‘Money’. At the press conference, she gushed about how she was smitten by the song at first listen. The instrumental version is a steady, dynamic beat. However, the lyrics themselves are a run-of-the-mill “I’m loaded, and I can buy what I want” song that we’re all used to hearing from rap and hip-hop artists.

‘LALISA’ is now streaming on all platforms.
